Bruno Azeredo
Azeredo joins the Fulton Schools faculty after earning his doctorate in mechanical engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he also earned his master’s degree in theoretical and applied mechanics and bachelor’s degree in engineering mechanics.
Now an assistant professor in manufacturing engineering within the Polytechnic School, Azeredo’s research focuses on the use of self-assembly processes and electrochemical methods for scaling the production of nanostructured inorganic semiconductors such as silicon. He strives to provide manufacturing solutions that are large scale and economically viable for future technology transfer.
The benefits of this research could boast improvements in the performance of lithium-ion batteries, bio-imaging systems and bio-integrated electronics, micro-optical elements for silicon photonics and thermoelectric energy harvesting. He is also interested in pursuing research concerning the intersection of STEM and the arts, in particular music and dance, at the undergraduate and K-12 level.
